It is our aim in youth
ministry to bring the school aged youth into a deeper
understanding and appreciation for their Catholic faith
– most importantly that they nurture a budding
relationship with Jesus Christ. It is our hope that the
youth will be able to come together and enjoy a good
time while building strong friendships with each other
and the youth leaders.
Our middle school youth
group (Edge) usually meets twice a month on Saturday
evenings from 6:30-8:30 in the parish center (gym). This
youth group is designed for 6th, 7th,
and 8th grade students of all faiths, not
just Catholic youths. Through these social events, field
trips (like bowling, sporting events, lock-ins, etc.),
and service projects for the community, we hope to
foster healthy relationships among the youth of our
parish and also build up their relationship with God,
the church, and the larger community. Meeting times and
dates are listed in the bulletin each week.
We also offer an
elementary youth group/parents’ night out program for
ages 3 through 5th grade. This program meets
one Friday evening each month, and allows the parents of
our parish a much needed night out, while we provide a
safe, fun, Christ-filled program for the younger
children of our parish.
We are in the process of
developing a high school youth group as well. This
group, similar to our Edge group, will work to foster a
deeper relationship with Christ while offering students
opportunities to get more involved in their parish and
community by performing service projects.
I encourage you to get
your child involved in the youth ministry programs here
at St. Cecilia, especially as a way for your child to
meet new people and make new friends. Even if you don’t
have children, please consider becoming involved
yourself as a volunteer!
